Margo Bouchet (BA `69’ and Law ’72) is the current Vice President of Membership-HUAA. It is not uncommon for her to greet you with the request are your HUAA or HUILAA dues current. She seeks your vote for another two year term. But more importantly, she needs your support to recapture and garnish the 66,000 living HU Alums who are NOT members of the Howard University Alumni Association (HUAA). Margo previously served as President of the Los Angeles Alumni Club, Vice President of the Los Angeles Law Club, and Chair, Region VI.

Margo Bouchet was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. She is the eldest of five (5) children born to her mother. Margo attended Blessed Sacrament Grammar School, in the Bronx, a few years earlier than U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Maria Sotomayor. Margo was crowned Scroller Queen for pledgees of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, in Brooklyn, N.Y. just prior to entering Howard University as a Freshman. Margo completed her undergraduate and law school studies at Howard University. She was sponsored into the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by the late Honorable Juanita Kidd Stout. Margo is a member, in good standing, of the California State Bar.

Despite a busy practice and her role as Mother and Grandmother, Margo manages to devote a significant amount of her time to her community, to God and to her Alma Mater, Howard University. Margo Bouchet regularly provides free legal service to the poor and underserved at Fame Legal Clinic in Los Angeles. Margo has been very active in her Alumni Association and has held many offices and helped to raised well over Two Hundred Thousand dollars for the University. Margo has been honored by the Los Angeles Alumni Club as an Outstanding Alumni and she was honored by the Howard University International Law Alumni Club at its annual meeting at the National Bar Convention. Among her many honors, Margo was also named the First African American member of the Judicial Nominating Committee, for the Ninth Circuit by, then President, James Carter. For her services Margo was recently inducted into The Langston Bar Association Hall of Fame.

Margo conceived of Bison On The Vineyard (BOV) almost ten (10) years after taking her first vacation on Martha’s Vineyard and met up with several alums from her Alma Mata. BOV is now, one of the signature fundraising events for the Alumni Association.

Margo practices Family Law and Mediation in Los Angeles and Culver City, California. She is certified on the National Bar Association Panel of Mediators and Arbitrators.

Margo has one daughter, Rahkel, who practices law in Washington; D.C.; two sons and three grandchildren.
